NINE-MILE COUNTY FOREST RECREATION
Difficulty: Beginner to Expert Length: 20 miles (33 km); loops from .5 mile to 9.6 miles Grooming: Frequently groomed 8' wide skating lane and machine set double tracks on all trails.
Conditions: Good.
Base is hard packed and icy on spots but enough snow on surface to get a good grip for skating. Much of the system is in great shape, the groomers have done a great job of grooming for the snow that they have. Icy spots are few on most trails. Classic tracks look to be greatly improved with recent grooming. I've been skiing on Toko System-3 Red during the mild weather with good results for training.

Nine Mile County Forest Recreation Area Trails: The cross-country ski trails at Nine Mile Recreational Area are open. Most of the 30k of trails are groomed for skate skiing only. The Alps are not groomed. There is a 1 - 1 ½ inch hard packed icy base with ½ inch of loose snow on top. There is not sufficient snowfall for tracks to be set. There is approximately 4 inches of snow in the woods.
